I think the only way to determine this is to look in the registry in the BizTalk hive.

How do you determine which “edition” the BizTalk installation is? (Development, Standard, Enterprise, etc.)

True that you can easily do it by checking the installed updates. In fact that is exactly how my PowerShell script works. see: http://biztalkmessages.vansplunteren.net/2010/03/04/determine-biztalk-version-using-powershell/. On the other way I think MS should have updated the ProductVersion number like they did before with the service packs for BizTalk 2004.

Yes, you’re correct. SP1 of BizTalk Server 2006 R2 doesn’t update the version number.

But you can easily determine the version and sp level by checking the “Show updates” check box in the “Add or Remove Programs”. “Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2 Service Pack1 [KB 974563]” will be listed under the “Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006”
