A simpler, if less pretty, way of finding the correct PID is to use the inbuilt 'tasklist' command.
No scripts, no powershell requirements, works on all versions of BizTalk.

Hello,

FYI: I changed the Functoid's ConnectionType and Category due to connect it to a scripting functoid.

this.Category = FunctoidCategory.String;
this.OutputConnectionType = ConnectionType.All;
AddInputConnectionType(ConnectionType.All);

Otherwise it doen't work (I'm using BTS 2009).

Furthermore I experienced problems when trying to read an orchestration variable that is not used within an orchestration scope.
When I assign a value to the variable in an expression shape on top level (no orchestration scope), the Functoid always returned null because in the Functoids RetrieveVariableFromField - method a NullObjectReference - Exception is thrown when trying to retrieve the value (fieldInfo.GetValue(xLangContext) is null).
Seems like the variables value is not persisted somehow.

A dummy usage (e.g. writing the variables value to the event log) in a sub-scope solved the issue.

So long,

Is there any way to shut this feature off?

I have a situation where I have a schema provided to me from an external trading partner that has a Record named "Client" and in that Record is an attribute named "ClientID" and also an element named "ClientID".

I have an internal version of this schema which is basically a direct clone with some routing properties I've added for promotion and also some system specific attributes we use internally.

In my map I am trying to do a one to one from attribute to attribute and element to element but everything I've tried automatically links the attribute from my source schema (internal cloned version) to both the attribute and element in the destination schema. I can't get it to map element to element. None of the options for auto link work and even when I directly try to link from element to element it ignores me and automatically links from the attribute to the element. It's driving me insane!

Hi, Randal!

I don't know why biztalk set it to the inner type (though MessageType is set to the envelope type). I have simple req-res port with my pipeline with that component and standard xmldasm component - nothing special.

I ended up setting SchemaStrongName property manually. I made a wrapper component for XmlDasmCom, promote PromotePropertiesOnly before Disassemble call, then in GetNext I copy source message with all its parts and context and modify SchemaStrongName.

Works pretty decent now.

Hi,

Thanks for the comment and sorry for the delay. In my case after XmlReceive pipeline is executed the message type is that of the envelope message.

I wonder why you get the inner message type instead of the envelope message type. Can you tell how your solution looks at the receive side? ports, messages, pipelines, etc.?

Hi Amy,

Thanks for your message.

It is probably not surprising but I never had to deal with traditional chinese characters in my solutions :-). Anyway I wonder what the value of the FILE.ReceivedFileName. As far as I understand your solution the incoming file already contains chinese characters, right? Use Tracking or write System.Diagnostics.Debug.Writeline(tmpString) in your orchestration to find out how the filename looks when it has arrived in BizTalk.

Hi Randal,
I am a new guy for Biztalk study. my name is Amy. I am from China. and I got a issue about file name with ftp send port.
I google biztalk then I found your blog. I really hope you could kindly help me with your ample experience.
it is a dynamic send port, there are some traditional chinese characters in file name. english character is ok
but traditional chinese characters all become "????" when I check file using ftp client "WinSCP" after file was deliveried

to ftp flder. if I copy a file manually to FTP folder the file name show normally.
below is my code in orchestration file. any help would be appreciate.

msgSend=msgReceive;

tmpString=msgReceive(FILE.ReceivedFileName);
tmpVar=tmpString.Substring(tmpString.LastIndexOf("\\")+1); //get file name without directory

tmpFilename=tmpVar.Substring(tmpVar.LastIndexOf("_")+1); //get last part of file name after character "_"

msgSend(FILE.CopyMode)=2;
msgSend(FTP.RepresentationType)="binary";

msgSend(FTP.UserName) = "user";
msgSend(FTP.Password) = "123";
msgSend(FTP.BeforePut) = "CWD //opt/user/Unit Test/";

SendFolder(Microsoft.XLANGs.BaseTypes.Address) = "ftp://abc.com" +"//opt/user/Unit Test/" + tmpFilename;

ps: SendFolder is send port. file name like NET_林頓際資合健康金.pdf. send pipeline is Microsoft.BizTalk.DefaultPipelines.PassThruTransmit.

thanks again for you read my mail. :)
my personal email is angel.34@163.com. looking forward to your reply.

Randal,
I would add one more thing the XmlDisassembler does. It identifies the MessageType of the incoming message, which is how it determines the schema. All the subsequent actions rely on identifying the schema.

Does this property affect validation i.e. if PromotePropertiesOnly is true, will validation be performed
